"Shane gave me every opportunity to take my game to the next level. He focused on working on your skills and opening the game up and knowing what all your options are. His commitment to improve hockey players as myself will get you to the next level."
Milan Lucic --Boston Bruins NHL
"Shane Kuss' hockey program has been one of the best things we have done for the development of our son, Alexander, in hockey. As an Olympic Gold Medalist in gymnastics, I have encountered many different coaches and techniques. What I am most impressed about Shane is his ability to draw the best from each of his players, while keeping them motivated and wanting to learn more. He is truly a great role model."

1999 BC BLACKHAWKS WIN BACK TO BACK MAINLAND TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 1999 BC BLACKHAWKS once again come on top winning the Mainland Championship by beating the Island Stars in the final. The tournament started off strong for the team as they went 3-0 in round robin beating the Selects Black, Can-Am Bruins and the Ninety-Nines. The Semi-final game saw the Blackhawks get out to an early lead on the Pacific Titans but then ran into penalty trouble and saw the Titans force overtime. Off a face -off play deep in the Blackhawks zone Jordan Sandhu was sprung on a breakaway and beat the Titans goaltender to win the game on a great backhand deke. A rematch of last year's final the Island Stars looked to get the jump on the Blackhawks but instead the team got out to a early lead and held on to win the championship by a score of 5-4. Next up for the team is a trip to Alberta to compete in the Alberta Cup Championship a tournament that the Blackhawks won last year. After that the team travels to Kelowna to participate in the Kelowna Heat tournament.

SHANE KUSS NAMED TO BCHL’S ALL TIME LIST
Shane Kuss has been named to the 50 top players list in the BCHL and the top 10 in the decade of the 1990’s. Some pretty good company as players such as Scott Gomez (Montreal Canadians), Brendan Morrison ( Calgary Flames), Bill Muckalt ( Minesota Wild), Willie Mitchell (LA Kings) Paul Karyia (Anehiem Ducks) and Shawn Horcoff( Edmonton Oilers) were also named in the 1990’s.
“To be named in the top 10 players in my decade and top 50 overall is a true honour considering I look at the players that I have been named with. There are some pretty elite players on that list and to have my name beside them is something that I will always remember and cherish. Those years were the best years of my life playing hockey and doing something I love to do and now looking back and realizing who I was playing with and against is pretty amazing. So many of my personal accomplishments were with the help of some of those guys and I hope some of theirs were the result of me helping them.”

It was also another summer of taking time out to visit the Stanley Cup as former student Milan Lucic of the Boston Bruins hosted an event for friends and family to celebrate with. This was the second year in a row that Shane got the opportunity to celebrate the Cup with former players that he had coached as Brent Seabrook (Chicago Blackhawks) hosted an event in the summer of 2010.

“I have had the privilege of not only coaching Brent and Milan but to celebrate the Cup with them was surreal. To see their success and what they have accomplished is what coaching is all about and for them to recognize that you were a small part of what they accomplished is an honour and something to be proud of”.
